Annual marathon runs back into Red Deer

This spring, people will have the chance to set a new personal fitness goal at this upcoming Red Deer marathon.

Ecole Camille J. Lerouge School is a local school in Red Deer that will host the start of Woody's RV Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10k races.

This year marks the 25th year for the marathon, which runs through Red Deer's park and trail system. Participants will be able to put their endurance to the test while experiencing the views along the winding paths that run alongside the Red Deer River. The marathon's unique backdrop has helped rank it among Alberta's best races.

Participants have several run options to choose from, both during the event and leading up to it. A 3K friendship is run the day before the event to help warm everyone up and meet some other participants. During the race day, participants can choose between running the full marathon, half marathon and 10K run, and each race has slightly different start times. There will also be a 1km kids’ race. After the race, there will also be an award ceremony.

Marathons often invest in banner printing to help make their different stations clear to event participants, which can make the day of registration a smoother process.

The Woody's RV Marathon will take place on May 18, 2025, with the first race starting at 8:00 am, but check-in is required before that. The race will take place at 5530 42a Ave, Red Deer, AB. Participants must register in advance and can do so through the event's website.
