Annual festival lights up the night in Red Deer

The 4th annual Nuit Blanche festival is taking place this month in downtown Red Deer. It is presented by the Downtown Business Association.

The festival begins after dark and features live art demonstrations, art exhibitions, and musical entertainment. There are set to be art installations in which the public can participate, and a kids’ zone with lots of family-friendly art activities.

Guest can relax in a couple of craft beer gardens or purchase dishes from various food trucks.

There will also be art for sale in the artisan vendors’ village. Vendors will be selling handmade items like jewelry, paintings, accessories and clothing.

Organizers are still accepting applications for entertainers and artists. Last year’s festival featured the Twitch Booth, which was a paint-by-numbers photo booth, and a performance from Prop Culture fire dancers. There was also an after-party, so no doubt performances will be similar performers this year.

Some of the Red Deer vendors may provide Postcards to those who stop by their booths, as many artists use them as large-format Business Cards with a sample of their work on the front and contact information on the back.

Nuit Blanche is taking place in Downtown Red Deer on September 17 from 7:00 to 11:00 pm. For more information about the festival, or to become a vendor, contact Tyler Bowman at 403-340-8696.
