What's Happening in Red Deer, AB…

Annual fair returns to Red Deer this summer

The 125th annual Westerner Days Fair and Exposition is taking place next month in Red Deer over five days.

One of the first events during the fair will be the parade, which will travel downtown beginning at 9:30 AM on July 20. There will be lots of opportunities and locations for the public to view it.

The fair itself will feature livestock shows, with goats, cows, horses and donkeys, live entertainment, and a variety of home-skills competitions. There will be a carnival midway with rides and games, chuckwagon races, and food for purchase.

The 19th Street Market will offer merchandise for sale from local vendors. Vendor applications are being accepted for the fair until June 16. Fees start at $425 for a 10 x 10-foot booth up to $925 for a corner 10 x 20-foot booth, while food vendors receive a $10 discount.

This annual event has become a tradition for many Red Deer families who make a point of visiting for at least one day. No doubt the organizers have worked with local poster printing firms to provide advertising materials that will be displayed all over the city.

The Westerner Days Fair and Exposition will be held at Westerner Park from July 20 – 24. To learn more about this event, such as the price of daily tickets and passes, call 403-343-7800.
