The city of Red Deer is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a series of events scheduled in September.
One of the festivals, the Old Fashioned Fall Fair, is a presentation of the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. It will feature people dressed up in heritage costumes, craft displays, arts and crafts contests, and a fruit and vegetable market. As well as this, there will be races and games for everyone to take part in.
Earthdance Red Deer will also be marking International Day of Peace next month, with all proceeds from its event going towards the Central Alberta Refugee Effort. Earthdance’s celebrations take place in more than 600 locations in 60 countries each year, offering a range of music, dance, and children's activities, all aimed at promoting peace in the world. The mayor of Red Deer, Morris Flewwelling, will read the Proclamation of International Day of Peace. Other speakers will also be featured.
Both of these events will likely appeal to people across the region. No doubt the organizers have been working closely with local Print companies to prepare; this might include investing in poster or sign printing to market the causes to the community.
The Old Fashioned Fall Fair will take place at Fort Normandeau on September 21. For more information, call 402-340-2013.
Earthdance Red Deer will be held at the Ross Street Patio and Veterans Park on September 21 from 4:00 - 10:00pm. Admission is free but donations will be accepted on the door.
