Alberta potato industry to meet in Red Deer
It won’t be small potatoes as the movers and shakers of Alberta’s spud industry convene in Red Deer for their annual convention this November.
The Alberta Potato Industry Association’s annual meeting will take the form of a trade show, with dozens of vendors and organizations advertising their wares. There will also be a number of keynote speeches and presentations, from speakers such as Potato Growers of Alberta chairman Russ Van Boom, Potatoes USA CEO Blair Richardson, and University of Idaho professor Nora Olson. There will be a number of meetings and seminars throughout the two-day event, with some warm-up events held the day before.
The APIA trade show will conclude with a banquet for potato growers and others involved in the industry, where presumably potatoes will be on the menu, if not exclusively. No matter what the field, trade shows, conferences, and conventions provide business people an opportunity to learn about the latest trends in the field and get some networking done. Business card printing and promotional printing are usually a large part of this effort.
The APIA trade show will take place at the Cambridge Red Deer Hotel on November 20 and 21. Tickets are also available for interested non-growers. APIA was formed in 1990 to raise the profile of the industry, and maintains a close relationship with the Potato Growers of Alberta.
