Two Edmonton strip malls updated to help people shop locally

A new program is attempting to bring life back to two strip malls in Edmonton.

These two structures, situated opposite each other on 76th Avenue, date back to the 1950s and used to provide a number of services to people in the local area, such as grocery shopping and other small retail stores. However, as locals began to choose the larger, enclosed style of mall, they fell into disuse.

The city has decided to give these neighborhood shopping centers a face lift. Funds have become available that can be used to help update and provide improvements to these types of buildings, as well as for marketing them to potential investors and the residents in the surrounding areas.

It was decided that these two strip malls would be chosen for the funding based upon their size, condition, and the level of interest in the local public and business communities. A printing company can be called upon to produce all of the signage that the firms may need as they move into the improved structures, as well as any Business Cards, Stationery, and other printed items required.

It is hoped that once the updates are complete and new businesses move in, they will serve as popular gathering places for the community, as locals can easily walk or bike to the malls without having to worry about driving or parking their vehicles.
