The Edmonton Oilers hockey team will hopefully close in on playing on ice in their new home in the very near future.
According to city manager Simon Farbrother, the plans for the city’s new arena are ready to be presented to the city council during its February meeting. If everything goes as expected, the project will come in at or under the $480m allocated to the construction budget for the new building and associated costs.
This comes after the 18-month planning stage that saw collaboration between the different players in the arena’s construction. These include Katz Group, the PCL Construction project manager, Venue Group and city staff.
It is hoped that if the plans are within the allocated price, then no further council vote will be needed and the actual building phase can begin in March. The end result of the plans will be a high quality arena that should be ready for the players and fans in Sept of 2016.
The majority of the cost for the project will be covered by the city, the Edmonton Oilers team owner and a ticket tax. A portion will also be paid by the provincial government. An adjacent community rink is also scheduled to be built at the same time.
Projects such as this require a lot of documentation. Print companies can provide high quality paper Forms and other printed documents, as well as full color enlargements of photos and other presentation materials that can be used during meetings.
