ETS to get phones home

Edmonton Transit Systems (ETS) has launched a campaign to help reunite people with their lost phones.

According to Jennifer Laraway, who is the communications advisor with ETS, about four phones a day are found and dropped off at customer service. Many of them contain a lot of personal information, such as emails, contacts, banking info, passwords, and more. A poster printing firm can make a variety of materials that can be placed along the system’s transit routes to let riders know how to get their item back should they lose them on a bus or LRT vehicle.

She noted that she is surprised that many people never even call to see if their device has been turned in. Nearly 600 are left behind of buses and light rail transit cars a year, and with so many staff and good Samaritans taking them in, there is a good chance that they may be able to get them back.

Ms. Laraway pointed out that they are sometimes able to call the numbers they find of the phone to see if they can locate the owner, but that is not always possible.

People who lose their cell or other handheld device are asked to call ETS customer service at (7800) 496- 1622. If they have your lost item, you’ll be able to come down, identify it and pick it up. If you don’t, it will be securely destroyed after 30 days.
