Edmonton trains knocked temporarily out of action

The Edmonton LRT service was unavailable for a period recently while the city performed technical testing.

Some riders had to make do with catching the bus, as the service was not going to be available for a few days.

Transit technical crews needed to use that time to test the signaling system that had been newly installed on the Metro Line. Officials warned the public that there would be no train service available until after noon on Saturday, March 14th, and that it would be replaced by bus route number 505, with the bus stopping at each station between Clareview and Century Park.

Riders were also advised that the rail service would not be available on Sunday at all on the Capital Line. Again, bus line 505 would be taking over for the period when the train was not running.

The transit authority indicated that it would be back up and available for the usual Monday morning commute on the 16th. A poster printing firm can help to keep the public abreast of the latest developments by creating signage and other materials that can be displayed at the rail and bus stops, so that riders will know what to do to get where they are going.

The city also notified members of the public that, although they may see rail vehicles on the line, these were being used to do test runs and were not available for riders.
