From Alexander Graham Bell's “Silver Dart” to the Avro Arrow and other planes, Canada has a strong history when it comes to the development of aircraft, and an Edmonton event will put it front and centre.
Open Cockpit Day, which will be hosted at the Alberta Aviation Museum, will celebrate the province’s aviation history, as well as that of the rest of the country. At least 20 historic planes will be on site to explore, and some will even be open for an insider’s view.
The planes that will be at the venue will range from bush planes used to reach isolated communities to jets, and the public may be able to sit in their cockpits and learn about the days when they were in full operation. The flight simulation lab will be accessible, and there will be other family-friendly fun in the mix as well. Food can be purchased, and the venue’s event hall will provide an opportunity to learn more about, and connect with, a variety of Edmonton not-for-profit groups.
Museums link the public with a community's past, and they often host special exhibits and activities. These may call for custom signage, which can be designed and prepared by a printing services company.
Open Cockpit Day will be filled with high-flying fun on September 20th. The Alberta Aviation Museum is located at 11410 Kingsway.
