Calgary households will soon be able to enjoy local produce and fill their freezers, thanks to an event that will celebrate the fall harvest.
The Calgary Produce Marketing Association wants to help make healthful food more accessible to all, and its two-day Fall Harvest Sale will do just that. The BMO Centre will be the location for the activity, and the shoppers will be supporting an assortment of community service projects.
Thousands of pounds of vegetables, fruit and other produce will be brought in from across Western Canada for the event, and a maker’s market will be a new addition for this year. The produce will be on offer at a deep discount, giving those who enjoy making pickles, jams and condiments in their home kitchen lots to choose from. There will also be options for anyone hoping to find fillers for their freezer. The produce available will depend on the hour of the day.
