Calgary class crafts whisky cocktails

Whisky can be enjoyed on its own or in an assortment of cocktails, and Calgary's Confluence Distilling has organized an activity that will provide an introduction to this popular distilled drink.

Those who register for the distillery’s Whisky Cocktail Workshop will be able to add some new drinks to the menu for their next party or other gathering, as everyone will learn how to craft at least three mixed cocktails. It will run for two and half hours, and there will be lots on the agenda.

The activity will start with a distillery tour, and everyone will learn how it transforms grain and other ingredients into whisky. The influences different types of barrels can have on its flavour profile will be discussed, and it will then be time to move on to the mixology portion of the evening. The cocktail making and tastings will follow.

To help make it easier for the learners to recreate the libations at home, everyone will receive recipe cards and a pack of dried garnishes. Print shops can be commissioned to create cards like this.

Confluence Distilling will be hosting its Whisky Cocktail Workshop on Friday, January 9th from 6.30pm to 9pm. It can be found at 507 36 Avenue Southeast. Tickets start at $115.50 each, with an add-on option for a charcuterie and cheese board.
