Calgary outing explores native grasses

Calgary’s Weaselhead Preservation Society has an event in store that will introduce prairie grasslands, and the attendees will find out what makes them special.

This visit to the Weaselhead Natural Area will be focused on endangered native grass species, and it will include a guided hike. Everyone who Signs up is advised to come dressed for the weather and to wear sturdy walking shoes, and the session is geared towards adults.

The guide will lead the group on a three-mile route, and while they go, they will be able to observe patches of Bunch Grasses, as well as Rough Fescue and learn what makes them different from other species. The diversity of their ecosystems will be highlighted, and other native plants will be introduced as well. Details about the venue’s invasive plant program will be provided, and a small registration fee is being charged.

Hikes and other walking workshops provide an in-person experience when it comes to the natural world. A flyer printing company can supply organizers with a range of marking option to promote such events.

The Weaselhead Preservation Society has cordially invited anyone who is interested to attend its “Grasslands: Deep Roots, Strong Systems” outing on July 11th. Everyone who Signs up is asked to arrive at the Weaselhead Natural Area Parking lot by 1:30 pm sharp. The outing will last for two hours.
