The Resource Sector Development and Aboriginal Consultation will take place at the Westin Hotel, Britannia/Belaire Ballroom on June 7 from 11:30 am - 1:15 pm. The consultation is the seventh discussion in the Aboriginal Business Connections Series. Tickets are $75 for Calgary Chamber members and $100 for non-members.
This will be held in the format of a panel discussion between representatives of the Aboriginal community and those in the natural resources industry. Opening comments will be delivered by Chuck Strahl, who is the former Federal Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. The discussion's purpose is to lay out the requirements for industries who work with Aboriginal communities on how to develop natural resource projects.
It is in the best interests of those wishing to develop natural resources in Aboriginal communities to find out exactly what is expected of them and how best to work with those communities. Canada has a lot of remaining natural resources and it stands to reason that there will be more and more calls for cooperation between industry and the Aboriginal community. Discussions like this are therefore very necessary.
The event will also be a worthwhile networking opportunity for business leaders in Calgary who wish to expand their businesses. Business card printing services will be required by those who wish to attend this and any future discussions in the Aboriginal Business Connections Series. It will be a good opportunity to open the channels of business between people who might not have had the chance before.
