There are many ways to design a garden, and an upcoming Calgary workshop will explore how to “rewild” a formerly cultivated space.
The Southwood Community Garden Association’s “Garden On! Rewilding the Urban Garden” workshop will introduce this topic to the public. Rewilding often attracts urban wildlife, results in lower maintenance levels and can be very rewarding, and any resident of Calgary who feels the topic is of interest to them is welcome to attend.
The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion of rewilding and the benefits of doing so, and there will also be a review of some of the basics of plant care. The group will discuss a variety of design plans that include native plantings, as well as food and shelter for birds, insects and other creatures. There will be a hands-on activity for the participants, and a prize draw will also take place.
The monies raised through ticket sales for this activity will be used by the Southwood Community Garden Association for its care and upkeep. A brochure printing company can craft pamphlets to distribute during this sort of function that provide more details about the organizer and the work conducted in the local area.
The Rewilding the Urban Garden workshop will take place on April 13th. It will be an in-person activity hosted at 11 Sackville Drive Southwest.
