Calgary to host cooking workshop

Calgary is offering a workshop that can help participants learn the fundamentals of making homemade preserves.

More people are discovering how rewarding it can be to prepare their own condiments at home, and jams and jellies are often at the top of the ‘bucket list’ of items to make.

This event, which will teach a group of learners how they can transform the summer’s bounty into jellies and jams, will be offered in the South Health Campus Wellness Kitchen in Calgary, and it is intended for those aged 15 and over. It will teach a variety of methods that have been used for many years and can help to prevent spoilage and contamination from bacteria, such as the species that causes botulism.

While the class learns the basics of crafting preserves using a hot water bath, they can discover some of the newest recipes and these may be very different from the ones they may have encountered in the past. At the end of the session, everyone will go home with both knowledge and recipes. A Print shop can help organizers of events like this to prepare printed materials beforehand.

Tickets for this workshop, which will be held on January 19th, are priced at $75 each. It will begin at 9:30am, and its scheduled run time is two hours.
