A program that connects seniors and disabled individuals with snow clearing services is seeking volunteers in Calgary.
The Snow Angels program encourages neighbours to lend a hand by clearing snow and ice from the driveways of those who are unable to do this task themselves. The city is unable to maintain a database of individuals who would like to volunteer, so it has asked everyone to keep an eye out for those who may be in need of some help.
The organizers of the initiative have explained that they wish to recognize the contribution its Snow Angels make to their community, and a special certificate has been prepared that individuals can download and Print to present to the person who has come to their assistance. Members of the public can also request one by calling 311. For privacy reasons, they will not be sent to individual Snow Angels directly. Graphic design teams can often be called upon to prepare certificates like this.
As well as presenting certificates, the city has explained that members of the public can share their stories on social media using the hashtag #YYCSnowAngels. The city’s website offers more information.
Calgary residents who would like to lend a helping hand to their neighbours in need are encouraged to do so as part of the Snow Angels initiative. All assistance is welcome.
