The Bow River flows through Calgary, and the riparian lands around it will be getting some love and care thanks to an upcoming environmental service project.
Grow the Bow will be an evening of restoring ecosystems and having a positive impact on the environment, and it is being organized by the Land Lovers Network.
The attendees in the service project will be removing invasive plants and restoring native species, and while they work, the registrants will get to learn more about the ecology of the Bow. Their work will help ensure the site provides food and shelter for local birds and other wildlife. Saskatoon berry shrubs, chokecherries and other plants will be installed. The training and equipment for the task at hand will be supplied, and the session is scheduled for the evening hours.
Volunteers are often the lifeblood of a not-for-profit group, and many organizations host events and other activities that give them a tip of the hat for all they do. Certificates of appreciation to give to each volunteer can be ordered from local Stationery printers.
The Grow the Bow - An Evening of Ecosystem Restoration activity will begin at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 14th. The work will continue until 9:00 pm. The meet-up point will be located at the top of the stairs at Rotary Park, Crescent Heights.
