Calgary set to host seed swap

It is almost time the green thumbs of Calgary to get their seeds started for another summer, and a local upcoming event may help them to save some time and money.

The Southwood Seed and Supply Swap is right around the corner, and it will be an event planned with thrifty and sustainable gardeners in mind. Everyone who is interested can bring items they no longer need, with seeds, tools and other items all set to be in the mix to exchange.

Even if they have nothing to exchange, people can still participate by making a donation of non-perishable food for local food pantries. Along with the exchange, the attendees will be offered the opportunity to sign up for a spot at the Southwood Community Garden. They can also share tips and advice while building up a network of fellow gardeners, and the session will run for two hours.

The seed saving and swapping movement has gained a lot of momentum in recent years. These activities are often held at the local, grassroots level, and a poster printing company can help get the word out to the public.

The Southwood Seed and Supply Swap will be celebrating sustainable gardening on February 24th. The event will be located at 11 Sackville Drive, and the doors will open at 1:00 pm.
