Calgary is a city made up of an eclectic mix of neighbourhoods, and one of these has a special activity in the works for August.
The Marda Gras Street Festival, which pays tongue-in-cheek homage to the well-known New Orleans event, will be welcoming the public at Marda Loop. Admission is free, and the activities will be taking place at different locations in the district.
The celebration, which has been planned with pedestrians in mind, will offer four different street performer corners. The local business community will be participating in the vendor area and some will also be serving as sponsors, and the attendees may be able to spot their Logo Design on the various materials used during the festivities.
The kids in the crowd will be able to pick up a themed colouring sheet to take home, and while they do so, the parents will have an opportunity to find out about the local businesses that will have special pricing on offer. Food will be available for purchase on site, and a shuttle service will be set up to transport people from the parking area to the event.
This celebration of Madras Loop and what makes it special will be held on August 13th. It will start at 10:00 am at 3rd Avenue SW, between 18th and 22nd street.
