A new community hub has opened for foster carers earlier this month in Wangara.
Fostering Hope is a not-for-profit company which will be distributing donated goods to carers. The organisation was founded in 2016 by residents from Clarkson, Lorraine Lekias and Linzi Mooney.
Originally set up from home, the company moved to commercial premises in 2017 and since then has grown so much, that a new site was needed.
Lekias said that the new building is around four times larger than the previous premises and also said that the charity will be able to store a lot more clothing as well as providing a safe environment for the social activities she intends to undertake.
All items in the store have been donated by community members and carers, as well as relatives of the foster families, are welcome to take what they need. In lieu of payment for goods, a small donation is requested with any money received being put toward the costs of running the enterprise.
A total of fifty volunteers across Perth help sort, organise and pack supplies for emergency situations, with necessities such as nappies and warm clothing always in demand. Flyer or poster printing may be used by organisations to create community awareness of their services.
Fostering Hope will be running its first social get-together on July 26th and also hopes to extend its trading hours after the school holidays.
