Wangara delves into nostalgia

Wangara, Western Australia residents are among thousands of Retro Rewind fans set to attend the next big event in 2016.

Flyers are already circulating for this year’s event, which will focus on the Vintage Collective Markets and showcase a range of family activities, workshops, vintage fashion parades and vintage hot rods.

Staged by the City of Wanneroo, the event is pure `vintage’ at its best, according to Mayor Tracey Roberts.

She said marketing services were already in high gear providing the public with event details about performances and attractions which would include entertainment by the swing dance band Randa and the Soul Kingdom.

Roberts added that the six-member soul group provided a fresh edge to the classic funk sound of the 1970s as the group performs some of the great hits of Aretha Franklin, James Brown and contemporary music favourites like Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams.

Mayor Roberts said many happy memories will be stirred as families visit displays, vintage markets, special activities, and musical presentations at the event, which is free to enter.

Yanchep National Park will host the Retro Rewind which will feature 60 workshops and stalls. Entry fee to the park will be waived for the event, which will take place on March 12 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Further information can be found on the City of Wanneroo website.
