The Living Walls Exhibition has just got underway and aims to bring street art to people in the city, along with nearby areas such as Wangara. Graffiti, wall murals and other Forms of art commonly seen on the street are not always viewed as relevant in the commercial world, nor in people’s homes, but organisers of this exhibition believe this could be very different in the future. Street art is not just about changing the way urban areas look but can be used in a number of different ways, achieving various purposes.
Artists from Perth, and from all over Australia, who specialise in illustration, design or street art have come together for this exhibition and it promises to invite others into a world of art they may not have previously known, but are likely to enjoy. These artists create pieces for private purchase and commercial products and are even more likely to be commissioned for work of this kind once this exhibition has taken place.
This exhibition will be on at Form Gallery but will even stretch beyond the walls of this fantastic space as paste-ups will be displayed throughout the city too. Like with banner printing, these massive paste-ups are sure to grab a great deal of attention from those walking through the city, thereby targeting an audience that may not have otherwise had the opportunity to view them.
The Living Walls exhibition began on June 29 and continues up to August 24. Entry to the gallery is free.
