Theatre group presents comedy chaos the old-fashioned way

Lovers of the theatre and those who enjoy the traditional style of comedy are in for a surprise, with the latest Limelight Theatre production.

A venue that regularly attracts locals from Wanneroo and surrounding areas, including Wangara, Western Australia, the theatre is renowned for presenting a mix of productions.

The latest show, entitled ‘Tom, Dick and Harry’, is the joint work of Ray and Michael Cooney, who devised a comical scenario about a couple who were attempting to adopt a baby. However, their efforts to impress are jeopardised by brothers Harry and Dick, plus a few incidents involving the local police, Russian mafia, and illegal immigrants.

Bob Mainwaring is directing the production, which he says is a little unusual.

He paid tribute to the writers who turned everyday situations into a host of verbal and visual humour.

Mainwaring has been treading the boards of community and professional theatre since 1950. He has also attracted an award hat-trick for best director, best set (construction and design), and best actor in a major role.

His latest production – described by critics as merriment, mirth and mayhem among comical confusion – is advertised locally via Flyers and poster printing, and is expected to be a big hit with patrons during its season from October 2nd to 18th.
