Skaters riding high at new Landsdale facility

Enthusiastic skaters from Wangara and throughout Wanneroo City have welcomed the recent opening of Landsdale's new $670,000 skate park.

Located at Warradale Park, the facility has provided pedestrian walkways, BMX tracks, skate ramps, spectator seating and vast green spaces to be enjoyed by all ages.

When the plans for the skate park were first introduced in 2019, the aim, according to Mayor Tracey Roberts, was to make it a meeting place for not only youth, but also local families. It had come about as a result of a Landsdale Residents Association petition requesting such a facility to be established in the area.

Community consultation about the park's concept design features revealed support for many of the inclusions, such as the seating, shelter, barbecue facilities, layout and ability to suit all age groups. Having the facility so close also eliminated the need to travel further afield to access a skate park.

Roberts said since its opening, the skate facility had proven to be a large attraction for both locals and other eager skaters from many parts of Perth, adding:

“The initial design of the skate park was completed with input from families and enthusiastic school children, and there are many features that appeal to users of all ages and skill levels.”

Major community facilities such as this have often been featured as part of brochure printing campaigns aimed at visitors and locals.
