Mad Man Motors, based in Wangara, has taken its advertising global, as the brand will appear on new player Bags for the Thorn Athletic team. Sponsorship is also being provided for the team’s run-out tops, as well as a rage of additional incentives, including for first team and Man of the Match. The car dealership is known locally for its unconventional promotional videos on social media.
The unusual sponsorship move is thanks to Mad Man Motors proprietor David Muir, an avid soccer fan who was born in Johnstone, Scotland and played football locally prior to emigrating. He has retained links to the club, where his brother is head coach, and is a fan of its growth and the work that the club does with the local community. Talking to The Gazette, he said:
“Although I’m on the other side of the world, I was keen to help in some way and I’m glad to be able to put something back into my home town.”
Thorn Athletic Chairperson Mark McGee acknowledged that the club is thrilled with its overseas sponsorship at what has been a difficult time for sporting clubs generally. Sports team paraphernalia is one example of Promotional Products that can be sourced through local Print shops.
Muir says he enjoys seeing the impact that sponsorship can have on sports teams. Closer to home, he is pleased to also support Carramar.
