A right-turning lane will be created to deliver the right-in access. Developer plans are to extend and widen the existing median island to create the turning lane. Those plans will come at the expense of seven parking spaces from the originally approved development, although parking facilities for the proposal remain in surplus to requirements. Flyer printing can be used to distribute information about changed traffic conditions to the local community.
While the site was originally slated for further development of a convenience store, warehouse, recreation centre and showroom, it is thought that the lack of right-in access has limited market interest in the ongoing development of the site, which stalled after the fuel station construction. Following the approval of the change for the 7-Eleven store development, Wanneroo Councillor Vinh Nguyen is quoted as saying that the right turn could be:
“The catalyst for the future development of the site given that it’s been vacant for many years.”
The city turned down an additional request for a right-out turn for the development, referencing a nearby available roundabout.
