Residents invited to experience free movies under the stars

An outdoor cinema experience has returned as a featured activity presented free for residents of Wangara, Western Australia, and surrounding areas.

The City of Wanneroo will team with the Telstra Store to screen a mix of classic, family friendly and blockbuster titles over a period of four weeks.

A total of 12 films will be shown under the stars in the Jacaranda Amphitheatre, including special Friday 13th and Valentine’s Day-themed showings.

Ladies’ night viewings of Mean Girls have also been included, along with an action night featuring the movie Taken, which was featured on poster printing.

According to organisers, surprise activities were also planned as a precursor to all the screen action, including live music and face painting.

While light refreshments and gourmet popcorn will be available on site, families are also able to pack a picnic.

Organised by the City of Wanneroo, the events are free to residents, but identification and tickets are required at each screening. A ticket is not required by children under 12. There is a limit of two tickets issued per email address.

Sunset, which usually occurs around 7.30pm, will mark the beginning of each screening, although gates will open from 6pm.

Further information on specific viewings and ticket release dates for the February screenings is available from the city’s website.
