Melbourne Cup to be celebrated in Perth

Western Australia residents may not be able to attend the Melbourne Cup in person, but there is still the chance to join in with the fun next week, while also raising money for a good cause.

The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation is holding a special fundraising lunch to celebrate one of Australia's most popular horse races.

The hospital is a dedicated children’s facility, treating young people from across Western Australia. The Foundation raises money for the hospital to help provide equipment, specialist staff and research opportunities.

The Foundation’s Melbourne Cup event features a three-course lunch, drinks, and entertainment. Ladies will enjoy the fashion parade staged by Perth-based designer Betty Tran, and attendees will also be able to show off their own sense of style with prizes for the best dressed person on the day.

Of course, the horse racing itself will take centre stage with live broadcasts during the event.

The lunch will be a great occasion for groups of friends from Wangara to treat themselves to a day out, or for a company to reward its employees. With everyone dressed to impress there should be plenty of photo opportunities, and local printing companies may see demand rise as attendees look to get their favourite images reproduced.

The event will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Mounts Bay Road, on Tuesday November 5, starting at 10:30am. Tickets can be booked as a table of 10 or individually for places at a shared table and are available from Ticketek.
