City photography competition to focus on Wanneroo experiences

The City of Wanneroo has invited entries from budding photographers in Wangara, Western Australia and surrounding suburbs for its latest Photography Competition.

The theme this year is Capture Your Wanneroo Experience with the main focus to be on visitors and residents enjoying, as the theme suggests, Wanneroo activities and experiences.

The topic has long been the source of ideas for local promotions, including Calendars and postcard printing.

According to Mayor Tracey Roberts, it was hoped the active theme would encourage visitors, friends and relatives to take part and explore destinations on offer throughout the City during summer.

She said full colour printing of each entry in previous years has never ceased to hold her in awe at the creativity and beauty of subjects submitted, and she looked forward to a similar high quality of entry in 2016.

The images entered must have been photographed within Wanneroo and feature beach themes with locals, events or a wide range of activities considered to reflect people enjoying life in the city.

The competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers and offers cash prizes to the value of $3,000.

Judging criteria will include creativity, use of light, focus, composition, and the ability to capture an image that reflects the area’s uniqueness.

The Instagram category introduced in 2015 will return, with hashtag #discoverwanneroo2016 required for entry. Entries close on February 29.
