Business advice to be offered in Waneroo

Small business owners in Waneroo will have the chance to receive advice from a number of expert speakers at a networking event later this month.

The Waneroo Business Association is combining its annual general meeting with a networking breakfast. The main guest speaker at the event will be David Eaton, Small Business Commissioner and chief executive officer of the Small Business Development Corporation.

Mr Eaton was Western Australia's first small business commissioner and has held the role since 2011. He is also responsible for the day-to-day running of the Corporation and the Alternative Dispute Resolution service, which is also aimed at small businesses.

The Corporation offers advice to and advocates on behalf of small businesses across Western Australia and, as Commissioner, Mr Eaton can investigate complaints of practices which may have a negative impact on small companies.

Mr Eaton has experience as a small business owner himself; he started a small textile factory in Perth which then grew to be a major manufacturing business. He has also held executive positions with Australia Post.

Before Mr Eaton speaks, the Association will hold its annual general meeting, making it a good opportunity to learn how the group works and what benefits being a member can bring.

Business owners from Wangara are invited to join the event and many of those attending will be preparing business card printing orders in advance.

The breakfast will be held on Wednesday July 17th, starting at 7:00am at Bridgleleigh in Mary Street, Waneroo. Bookings are essential and can be made through the Association website.
