The new year will start with a bang, as Cannington plans to bring back its popular New Year’s Day concert and fireworks event on the foreshore.
The free, family-friendly celebration will be a lively mix of music, fun and fireworks, and will be held along the banks of the Canning River.
The festivities will begin with a traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, which will then be followed by a speech from the Mayor. Live entertainment that includes local bands and DJs is expected to run through the afternoon and evening. For children, a host of activities will be available, including water slides, bouncy castles and obstacle courses. Character stilt-walkers, face painting and arts and crafts will also be available to keep little ones entertained.
Over 15 food trucks will be offering a variety of food and drink, or people can choose to have a picnic by the riverside. Fireworks are expected to light up the sky at 8.00 PM, courtesy of Cardile Fireworks, to bring the evening to a close. For community events like this one, organisers could use poster printing to spread awareness.
The New Year’s Day Concert and Fireworks will be held Thursday, January 1, from 3.30 PM at the Shelley Beach Foreshore Park. As one of the largest community-led events in Canning’s calendar, it provides an opportunity for residents to connect as they welcome in the new year together.
