Art lovers from Welshpool can indulge themselves over the next few months with the latest in a series of stunning exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Western Australia in central Perth.
The exhibition is the latest in a string of shows that have been arranged in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and features many of the American museum’s finest pieces. This is a rare chance for Australians to see works by renowned artists from the 20th century, many of whom are credited with changing the shape of the art world.
Among the most famous works are paintings by Dali, Picasso and Van Gogh. Other pieces on display include a self-portrait by Frida Kahlo and the shiny sculptures of Jeff Koons.
Catalogue printing enables visitors to take home a colourful memento of the show from the gallery shop, which is also stocking other gifts and Books relating to the exhibition and its featured artists. Visitors can also relax in the Manhattan Lounge, which offers free WiFi, art Books and New York magazines to browse.
The exhibition, which runs until December, is open every day of the week except Tuesday from 10:00am until 5:00pm and on Friday evenings from 5.30pm until 10:00pm. During the July school holidays, the museum will be running special tours of the exhibition designed to appeal to families. While general entry to the art gallery is free, a special ticket will need to be purchased for this exhibition. Tickets are available at the gallery or through its website.
