Grants target graffiti removal on business premises

Businesses in Welshpool and across the City of Canning that are battling with unwanted graffiti are being aided by a new programme of grants.

In a partnership between Kleenit, which is a specialist in the field of removing graffiti, and the WA Police State Graffiti Fund, local firms are benefitting from financial support towards cleaning graffiti from their business premises.

Programme participants will have the highly visible and illegal graffiti removed professionally, as well as receiving a comprehensive information pack and removal kit for use on any graffiti vandalisms that may appear in the future.

To ensure a smooth process in carrying out the graffiti removal and to allow businesses to carry on uninterrupted, the City of Canning has taken on the responsibility of organising the service. Professional printing services are often employed to help inform people on issues in the community, including graffiti.

Mayor of Canning, Patrick Hall, said that first impressions are important for the growth and success of any business, and he added:

“This program also goes beyond the benefits it offers local business. Rapid graffiti removal is one of the most effective ways to deter further vandalism, and by removing it quickly we can create a cleaner, safer and more welcoming City for all.”

Applications for the graffiti removal assistance for City of Canning commercial premises will be accepted until June next year, or until funds are exhausted.
