The views of residents from throughout the City of Canning including Welshpool, on the concept relating to the introduction of a skate plaza within the Willeton Sports Precinct at Burrendah Park are set to be reflected in the final concept.
The deadline for community feedback, which involved public displays of the first concept plans, free clinics on skateboarding and riding scooters as well as online comments, ended recently.
The concept Forms part of the Burrendah Park Landscape Master Plan which has already been approved by Council and sets the scene for the introduction of an integrated new skate plaza for use by skateboarders, pedestrians, bike and scooter riders.
Skate Sculpture, a design firm that specialises in skate parks, came up with the concept which blends active spaces with passive spaces into a pedestrian-friendly and integrated space. Plans, which often feature a graphic design of the development, were prepared and detail the inclusion of special features within the new plaza such as paths dedicated to skating.
It will also incorporate skate objects such as street banks, curbs, hand rails, stairs and ledges along with outdoor furniture, trees and garden beds. The integrated skate and pedestrian park concept is leading the way, according to Mayor Patrick Hall who said it was the first of its type in the state.
Council expects to finalise the plan in April with completion of the skate plaza forecast for March 2021.Get a Free Quote for Forms
