A community hub in Cannington will host the final session of an event designed to promote literacy in younger children this autumn.
Families with little ones in Cannington won’t want to miss a local event taking place at the suburb’s library in April. The last session in a nine-week programme called “Rhymes at Cannington” will be held in the afternoon inside Cannington Library and bookings aren’t required. Interested parents and their kids are encouraged to simply turn up for a session if they wish.
Libraries and other civic centres in suburbs sometimes work with flyer printing services to create colourful advertising materials that urge the public to attend their events.
The upcoming Rhyme session at the library is especially aimed at families that include young babies and is recommended for those who are under 24 months. Parents and their infants can sing along with library staff at the event which features action rhymes, lots of songs along with a short story to support early literacy. Designed for shorter attention spans, the rhyming sessions are only half an hour long.
The week nine session of Afternoon Rhymes will now run at Cannington Library on Tuesday, April 8. The event begins at 2 pm and ends at 2.30 pm and the library is located at 233 Sevenoaks Street in Cannington.
The session includes no admission charge for participating families.
