Basement jazz bound for Mitcham area

A Melbourne venue will soon be presenting two big names from the jazz music scene on one stage.

Jazz fans from Mitcham and other suburbs of Melbourne won’t want to miss an upcoming gig taking place in the city at Bird’s Basement. For a single night, jazz guitar player extraordinaire Charlie Hunter and the legendary Kurt Elling will be uniting to create a unique musical experience. Performing for over 30 years, Elling is renowned for his innovative vocal style and impressive improvisations and has risen to become a premier performer of the jazz scene. Charlie Hunter is recognised for his artistic prowess, effortlessly playing bass lines, solo and rhythm guitar simultaneously to create a seamless musical landscape.

For the Melbourne show, Hunter and Elling will enjoy strong support from drummer Marcus Finnie and keyboard player Kenny Banks Jr, to add depth to each performance.

Kurt Elling & Charlie Hunter will now perform live on stage at Bird's Basement on Wednesday, August 23. The venue is situated at 11 Singers Lane in Melbourne; the set will start from 6pm onwards.
