A famous Broadway show that became a hit musical on the silver screen is returning to the stage at a civic centre in Nunawading this year.

Presented by Melbourne-based amateur theatre company, NOVA Music Theatre Incorporated, the show will run for nine consecutive days and is designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the classic film.

Maria captures the heart of widowed Captain von Trapp bringing joy back to his household but when their life is threatened by the Nazi regime, the family must make a daring escape.
