A famous Broadway show that became a hit musical on the silver screen is returning to the stage at a civic centre in Nunawading this year.

It retells the true tale of spirited novice, Maria Augusta Kutschera (Maria Rainer in the movie) who became a governess to the von Trapp family’s seven children in Austria during the 1930s. Maria captures the heart of widowed Captain von Trapp bringing joy back to his household but when their life is threatened by the Nazi regime, the family must make a daring escape.
