The story of the war that many believe changed the world is the focus of a unique exhibition currently on show at the main museum in Melbourne, Victoria.
The WW1 Centenary Exhibition – put together by the Imperial War Museum in London and featuring over 350 historical artefacts from the First World War – provides an insight into this major world event.
The use of modern technology has brought the exhibition alive for an interactive experience, with images, sounds, rare artworks, film and original artefacts.
Organisers described the display as a rich journey that places visitors face to face with stories and objects that directly link them with the war, and with personal experiences of those who were involved.
The exhibition, which has been a focus of promotional poster printing by the museum, also presents special artefacts ranging from intricate personal objects to machines used for large-scale artillery operations.
Immersive digital technology, described as state-of-the-art by organisers, is also featured as part of the display.
Designed for all ages, the exhibition represents an important educational experience to not only learn more about the war, but also to be a part of the experience that has long been regarded as a pivotal moment in Australia’s history.
The exhibition, which was launched to coincide with this year's Anzac centenary, is on show until July 12th.
