Melbourne CBD is once again the host of an award-winning festival that brings art, sound ideas and technology to the district, with some events being free to access.
The Now or Never festival uses cultural landmarks and iconic buildings to showcase performances, large installations, talks and other unique experiences. With the city as a canvas, the audience is invited to explore and consider the narrative behind the expansive works.
Some of the highlights this year include light installations along the Yarra River, an opportunity to stay over at the Royal Exhibition Building as part of a durational sleep concert and an homage to Philip Glass, the revered American visionary composer.
The theme of the festival this year is a Whole New World. Artists and performers will create works where reality nestles with imagination, and ritual merges with technology. This helps the attendees glimpse the future while living in the world today, alive with the promise of artificial intelligence (AI) and recognising the huge technological advances that seem to happen with ever-increasing speed.

The Now or Never festival is taking place from Wednesday 19 until Sunday 30 August at various venues in Melbourne. Tickets range from free to $130.
