Polish Festival returns to Melbourne

Later this month, Melbourne’s Federation Square will host the Polish Festival.

Being Australia’s largest gathering of all things Polish in one venue, visitors can experience food, culture, merchandise and entertainment from Poland. It is a non-for-profit event, and entry is free for all.

The Main Square will be lined with food stalls and trucks boasting dishes such as pierogi dumplings, bigos stew, and kielbasa sausage. Instrumental and dance performances will occur throughout the day. Visitors can purchase jewellery, Boleslaweic ceramics, and handcrafted wares made by Polish people living in the area.

Being a family event, there will be a range of activities for children, from face painting to dressing up in traditional Polish attire, with the opportunity to get their photos taken at the photo booth. Kids can also display their artistic talent by partaking in wreath making or designing masks of a well-known Polish dragon, the Wawel Dragon, from popular folklore.

Visitors wanting to relax with a beer can head to the Beer Garden for a choice of Polish beers and vodkas.

The festival is in its 15th year and draws small Polish businesses from all over Melbourne. Flyer printing is commonly used by vendors and organisers of events such as this.

The festival will take place on November 17th. It is easily accessible by public transport, as it is located close to Flinders Street station. Bike racks are located close to the venue and taxi pick-up and drop-off points are across the road on Swanston Street.
