Fans of the sensual Latin dance scene in the Melbourne CBD area may be keen to sign up for free Bachata classes in October.
Bachata is one of the newest Latin dance crazes that is sweeping the globe. There are many establishments in Australia where the dance is taught, and it can be danced by everyone with a desire to light up the dance floor. Dance club owners are likely to make use of flyer printing services to advertise the free classes to as wide an audience as possible, especially within the dance and fitness communities.
Bachata began in the Dominican Republic in the 1960s and is an amalgamation of Son Cubano, Bolero and Merengue. Originally, the term meant party or celebration and has since evolved to become a style of music. Bachata is an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, as declared by UNESCO.
A bachata dance requires a partner and alternates between a close and open hold position with hip movements and syncopation. It can be performed with or without bouncing or moving the body to the beat. There are different styles of Bachata, including Dominican, Sensual, Modern/Urban and Bachatango – in all types, most movement is found in the lower body and hips, with the upper body more static.
The free Beginners Bachata class takes place on Sunday, October 2, from 2.30 until 3.30pm. The venue is 600 Little Collins Street, Melbourne.
