Melbourne art lovers to experience world-first exhibition

Visitors to Melbourne CBD will have an opportunity to visit the National Gallery of Victoria and view a world-first exhibition later this summer.

Announced recently by Martin Foley, Minister for Creative Industries, the exhibition will be exclusive to Melbourne and feature contemporary works by two influential eighties artists.

‘Keith Haring/Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines’ will explore the legacy and talent of two icons from the 20th century by shining the light on 300 of their artworks including photographs, sculptures, paintings and more. He added:

“Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat shook the foundations of the art world. They used their work to highlight vital issues of the time and they created a legacy that continues today. This will be another blockbuster for the NGV and Melbourne is the only place you’ll see it.”

The exhibition will showcase iconic images such as Basquiat’s crown and the radiant baby motif of Keith Haring. Also to be included are some of Basquiat’s (1960-88) and Haring’s (1958-90) earliest works along with their own joint collaborations, both with each other and others including Madonna, Grace Jones and Andy Warhol. Brochure printing services can be used to provide visitors with information relating to exhibitions such as this.

According to Foley the exhibition, which will run from December 1, 2019 to April 13, 2020, will also illustrate the way both artists used their creative talents to boost awareness of many issues ranging from the battle against racism to the AIDS crisis.
