Lantern walk to address leukaemia in Melbourne

Visitors to Melbourne, as well as locals, are invited to light up the beach at St Kilda with lanterns to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation, ask it continues its fight against blood cancer.

Light the Night has been held annually since 2008 by the Australian Leukaemia Foundation, which provides the lanterns and allows participants to choose from three colours: a gold one to remember loved family members or friends who have succumbed to the disease, white for those living with blood disease themselves, or blue for those who are supporters.

Entertainment will be provided prior to the walk, with live music playing during the evening, and there will be plenty of food and drink for purchase. Promotional Products will be available, and banner printing is likely to be used.

Many ideas have been suggested by the Leukaemia Foundation to assist with raising money during the walk, including asking family, friends and acquaintances for a donation and advertising the event on social media. Volunteers are also sought to assist on the evening.

The event will be held at the South Beach Reserve on Jacka Boulevard at St Kilda in Melbourne on Friday 7th October, opening at 5:30 pm and concluding with the walk along the reserve from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event is open to all ages.
