Cleaner Printing Technology seminar series for printing companies

Printing Industries, the peak body for printing companies, has announced the program for a series of national seminars on how to transition to cleaner printing technology. With the government introducing the Carbon Tax on 1 July 2012, Print companies Australia wide, including Melbourne, will be faced with more expensive electricity and other increasing costs. The seminars will focus on training company representatives to manage their energy issues more effectively and reduce ongoing costs.

According to print21online.com:

“The three-hour workshop program will be free of charge following Federal Government funding approval for the program this week by Enterprise Connect under its Workshops, Industry Intelligence and Networking (WIIN) initiative.”

The seminars will run in April and May and include most major capital cities, although venues have yet to be confirmed.

Hagop Tchamkertenian, the National Manager for Policy and Government Affairs at Printing Industries said that although reducing energy usage and electricity bills are the focus of the seminars, the:

“role of new technology associated with a lower carbon footprint should not be overlooked.”

The seminars are targeted specifically at areas of improvement for printing companies. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about the Sustainable Green Print (SGP) program. According to Mr Tchamkertenian, SGP is:

"the Australian printing industry's standard and accredited environmental certification program, to address energy and water efficiency issues and principles of Competitive (or Lean) Manufacturing."

The Melbourne based seminar heads the second half of the schedule on Tuesday 1 May from 8.00 am until 11.00 am.
