The Victorian branch of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation is set to host a Psychological Hazards in Healthcare Conference in August.
Due to an increased number of Covid-19 cases within the broader Melbourne CBD area, this conference will be conducted online over a four-hour period to ensure the wellbeing and safety of all healthcare workers attending.
ANMF members are currently one of the most important workforces within Australia, with nurses, personal care workers and midwives on the front line daily. The nature of their work can place unique stress on their psychological health and they face risks including repeated exposure to trauma, a heavy workload, long hours that impact their work-life balance, bullying and lack of support systems within the work environment and exposure to occupational aggression and violence.
The ANMF recognises the need for these issues to be addressed and the conference will include presentations by Dr Kate Blackwood and Dr Amy Zadow who will focus on fostering a healthy nursing environment. The conference hopes to explore these issues from various approaches with the focus on prevention and formulation of strategies being the goal. Organisers of online conferences can sometimes make use of graphic design to create visual material and slides to convey relevant information to attendees.
This conference is suitable for healthcare workers of all levels and will take place on the 14th August from 9am-1pm. Those wishing to attend may register or obtain more information on Eventbrite.
