Acoustic duo to play in Melbourne CBD

Intimate, toned-down music is increasing in popularity, and Melbourne CBD will be hosting exponents of this genre live in February at a celebrated venue.

The band Kings of Convenience consists of Norwegian school friends, Erlend Oye and Erik Glambek Boe. These artists came together in 1999 and quickly gained popularity with their subtle, ambient sound, that has been described by critics as reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel.

Their debut album, Quiet is the New Loud, experienced a lot of success, reaching number one in the Norwegian album chart. The second album to be released was Riot on an Empty Street, which featured additional material by Canadian singer-songwriter, Feist.

The fourth album, Peace or Love, made its debut in 2021, and the tracks Rocky Trail and Fever have so far been released as singles. Their friendship and collaborative essence is writ in their compositions, and the audience will no doubt have a flavour of their latest sounds during next month's performance.

A Mexican backing band will accompany the folk duo on their second tour of Australia. From their website, it is possible to purchase Promotional Products such as T-Shirts, mismatched socks and Postcards.

Kings of Convenience will be appearing at The Forum, Melbourne, on 22 February at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from $79.90 for general admission, and attendees will be standing.
