The launch website, found at http://www.thatsmelbourne.com.au/summer hosts a large list of highlights from the new waterfront precinct and Docklands, to the city’s night life as well as family friendly tours and activities. Coinciding with the launch of the program, and including the total list of 462 things to see and do, is a downloadable digital map and flyer. Printing this at home and planning a route before heading in can save time, but smart phones and tablets can access the map as well for a more interactive trip, or a hardcopy can be picked up from the Melbourne Visitor Centre in Federation Square, opposite Flinders Street Station.
Some of the 462 reasons are Melbourne’s multiple waterfront districts. “Have you taken a journey along Melbourne’s waterfront lately?” asks the website:
“It stretches from the banks of the Yarra – taking in the areas north and south – to Docklands, one of Melbourne’s newest waterfront precincts.”
Other gems include many of the cultural precincts in the heart of the city, great shopping venues, cafes and bars tucked away in hidden laneways and parks, lookouts and artistic installations to help relax and revive.
