Featuring some of the best comedians from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Impro Melbourne’s latest season of Theatresports™ is underway. The Grand Final event has been set to be held at Melbourne’s grand BMW Edge stage at the iconic Federation Square on the 24th of June. However, rounds of the theatrical competition will be held at The Space in Prahran every Sunday of May and June.
Theatresports™ is a theatrical improvisation competition officially licensed by the International Theatresports™ Institute. It is conducted much like a regular sport, involving two teams competing in a series of improvisation games, such as the ‘Alphabet Game’ or ‘Word at a Time’, in order to earn points and avoid penalties. The judges or audience allocate the points, and at the end of the night, the scores are tallied and the winner is the one with the most points.
As with the Comedy Festival and other similar events, banner printing and poster printing services are often engaged to attract crowds to the event. With a whole host of Australia’s most hilarious theatrical talent including Jason Geary, who was a Champion at National Theatresports™ 2010, and Patti Stiles, revered as International ‘Queen of Impro’ and Champion of National Theatresports™ 2010, the advertising will stretch far and wide, from Hawthorn to Sunshine, from Bundoora to Springvale.
The event will be held at 7.30pm every Sunday in May and June and will cost $15 Full / $10 Conc / $10 Groups of 8+. Bookings can be made through the Impromelbourne website at http://www.impromelbourne.com.au.
