On the 29th March 2023, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is returning to the area for the 37th time for another round of comedy shows from various comedians across more than 140 venues in the region.
The festival will be running until April 23rd and is said to be bringing together popular comedians for over 600 different shows in various performance venues in the area. Big names as well as locals and first-timers will make up the extensive line-up; major events such as this one can often be promoted using brochure printing. These names include everyone from native Australians such as Anne Edmonds, to international performers such as the UK's Daniel Sloss.
Other parts of the festival include themed nights and character comedy nights. There is also going to be a special Comedy Commutes event each weekend of the festival, where comedians will commute to other local areas nearby like Hawthorn or Brunswick to perform, allowing those residents of Hawthorn or other areas an opportunity to enjoy the festival without leaving their local area.
The comedy festival also supports other programs for comedians of all backgrounds, with development programs running all year round to help up and coming comedians find their voice, as well as a ‘Stand Up!’ program to give more women and non-binary performers the opportunity for their own chance at the comedy festival.
